Local opportunities in our modern global law firm

We look for outstanding lawyers in every sector and in every location. That is why our offices up and down the UK have programmes and opportunities in place to help you get started. Whether you are based in London, Bristol, Sheffield, Aberdeen, Edinburgh or Glasgow, you will be part of a single UK team and part of a firm with a reputation for modern thinking, quality advice and approachable people. A firm that offers its clients the same high level of service and industry focus across over 72 global offices.

We’re looking for the best modern minds

Keen intellect is vital, but we are looking for much more than just your academic qualifications. Whether you are a Law or non-Law student, or whether you are looking for a career change, there are certain modern qualities that we all share at CMS.

To get the most out of your Training Contract, you will need a strong business focus and a commercial mind-set. You will bring us a keen interest in how the business world works, and we will train you to identify major commercial opportunities and advise on crucial business decisions.

To thrive in our collaborative culture, you will need to be able to take on responsibility and work with others to get results. The mutual respect we have for each other’s contribution makes us more open and friendly.

To learn constantly, achieve what you set your mind to, overcome obstacles and stay focused despite conflicting priorities.

To take the initiative, come up with new approaches and ideas, inspire others and make things happen.

To build strong, long-lasting relationships with colleagues and clients, you will have to have outstanding listening skills, as well as clear and concise communication skills. You will be able to demonstrate that you are articulate in your convictions, both on paper and in person.

To succeed in Law analytical skills are absolutely key. You will need to be able to assimilate a wealth of information, spot the critical issues and make logical, well-thought-through decisions based on all the facts. You will have a flair for solving problems and the ability to get to know our clients’ businesses inside out.

To take on stretching assignments and see them through, handle the pressure of tight deadlines well and react positively to feedback.

To grasp the global picture as well as the local one, and to work as well with colleagues around the world as you work with those in your own team.

Whatever your degree discipline, you must have achieved, or be on your way to achieving, a 2:1 degree. You will also need 128 UCAS points (or equivalent).
